PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant resin composition which is a non-halogen thermoplastic resin composition which can be colored in arbitrary colors, as necessary, and which is sufficiently satisfied in mechanical strength, moldability, kneading workability, and further economic efficiency. SOLUTION: The flame-retardant resin composition comprises a (A) thermoplastic resin, an (B) inorganic filler, a (C) borate hydrate having 0.6-3.0 hydration number n. The (C) borate hydrate having a hydration in a specific range forms an oxygen insulating film effective in improving flame retardancy by vitrifying in the vicinity of a combustion temperature of the (A) thermoplastic resin and by performing ceramics with the (B) inorganic filler, so as to indicate excellent flame retardancy.
