PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find out a new antibacterial composition having sufficient antibacterial activity and antiviral activity against various microbes, being safe for humans and animals, and being affordable at a low cost. SOLUTION: The antibacterial composition is prepared by mixing 1 pt.wt. solution containing at least (A) 15-45 wt.% 8-22C fatty acid or a salt thereof, (B) 20-50 wt.% mono-, di-, or tri-fatty acid glycerol ester comprising an 8-18C fatty acid and glycerol, (C) 10-30 wt.% sulfosuccinic acid ester, (D) 0-10 wt.% one, two, or more alcohols selected from among ethanol, propanol, and isopropanol, and (E) 0-55 wt.% water with 1-500 pts.wt. aqueous base.
