A device for application of an image on the surface of solid materials by shock or impact-rotary engraving consists of a body having a shank at one end and a tip at the other end. The tip is designed as a combination of two geometrical figures: a multi-faceted bearing truncated pyramid at the base of tip and a working multi-faceted pyramid at tip apex, the number of faces of each pyramid is at least three with specific sharpening angles. The ratio of the shank diameter to the body diameter is in the range from 0.2 to 1.2.
