The system (1) has a storage unit (2) for storing a lithium ion battery (10) and a nickel metal hydride battery (10'), and an energy management unit (20) connected with chargers (100) e.g. alternating current/direct current converters. The energy management unit detects a charging condition of the stored batteries, and determines a charging curve for charging the batteries depending on the stored batteries. The chargers are connected to the batteries for charging the batteries. The energy management unit communicates with the chargers over an electrical line connection (21). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a charging condition of batteries.
