The device has a housing (2) at whose exterior an operating shaft is fixed, where the operating shaft connects a slider with a servomotor. Back-pressure in an exhaust gas sound absorber (1) is adjusted in an electronically controlled manner by pivoting the slider or manually controlled by opening an outlet (9) and closing another outlet (8) or vice versa or by application of a torque shower in the latter outlet and closure of the latter outlet. The former outlet or the latter outlet is closed by insertion of a covering flange into a flange recess at the former outlet or the latter outlet.
