<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color selecting method, an image processing method, an image processor and a program to efficiently select a color within a gamut after an operator satisfies it even if a designated color is outside the gamut. <P>SOLUTION: It is determined whether an entered designated color 302 is a color within a gamut G of a printing machine 18 or not. If the designated color 302 is determined as being not a color within the gamut G, then the designated color 302 is mapped to converted colors within the gamut G according to a plurality of gamut mapping processes. One of the gamut mapping processes which corresponds to one of the converted colors is selected. If the designated color 302 is determined as being a color within the gamut G, the designated color 302 is set as a reference color.
