<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color liquid crystal display element and a color liquid crystal display device capable of suppressing a change in color purity. <P>SOLUTION: In the color liquid crystal display element, a first cholesteric liquid crystal layer selectively reflecting light with a first wavelength defining a first color, a first functional sheet regulating the polarization state of the light transmitted through the first cholesteric liquid crystal layer, a second cholesteric liquid crystal layer selectively reflecting light with a second wavelength defining a second color among the light regulated by the first functional sheet, a second functional sheet regulating the polarization state of the light transmitted through the second cholesteric liquid crystal layer, and a third cholesteric liquid crystal layer selectively reflecting light with a third wavelength defining a third color among the light regulated by the second functional sheet are layered from the display surface.
