PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve game amusements by increasing the significance of the existence of a start port during a special symbol game. SOLUTION: The game machine includes: a normal symbol game performance means for performing the normal symbol game of variably displaying normal symbols; a start port opening/closing control means for performing the opening/closing operation to bring the start port into an open state and bring the start port into a closed state after the lapse of the opening time for two or more times when the normal symbols are stopped and displayed at winning symbols; a special symbol game performance means for performing the special symbol game of variably displaying special symbols with the entry of a game ball to the start port in the open state as a trigger; and a big winning game performance means for performing a big winning game advantageous to a player when the special symbols are stopped and displayed at big winning symbols as a result of the special symbol game. In the game machine, when the special symbols are stopped and displayed at losing symbols, the closed state of the start port is continued until the special symbols are stopped and displayed, and when the start port is brought into the open state following the closed state, the start port is brought into the open state after the special symbols are stopped and displayed.
