<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of mounting an arbitrary number of ink cartridges of an arbitrary color in an arbitrary holder, preventing useless abandonment of ink and cartridges from occuring, and reducing generation of down time accompanied with replacement of the ink cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, the number of holders 16 is at least two-times of the kinds of the inks, and a plurality of ink cartridges 15 can be mounted in the holder under an arbitrary arranging condition. As a means for controlling printing, the image forming apparatus includes: a judging means for judging the existence of mounting of the ink cartridges in the holder, ink color, and the remaining amount of the ink; a means for holding the result of judgement as holder information; a means for renewing the holder information in accordance with the specified changing factor; a means for reading the holder information; and a means for selecting the holder to be used in accordance with a required printing condition by citing the holder information read out, and performs the printing by using the ink of the ink cartridge of the selected holder to be used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
