METHOD FOR DETECTING FAILURE OF PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER SYSTEM

Disclosed is a method for detecting failures of a photovoltaic power system which has a plurality of solar cell strings wherein a plurality of solar cell modules are connected in series. In the method, the current value of each solar cell module or that of each solar cell string, and the total current value of the whole photovoltaic power system are measured. The measured current value of each solar cell module or the measured current value of each solar cell string is compared with the current value of each solar cell module or the current value of each solar cell string, said current values being calculated from the total measured current value of the whole photovoltaic power system. In the case where the measured current value of each solar cell module or the measured current value of each solar cell string is deteriorated from the calculated current value of each solar cell module or that of each solar cell string at a fixed rate or more, the solar cell module or the solar cell string in such deteriorated state is extracted as a failure candidate, and the failure candidate is displayed or notified.
