PURPOSE: A method for changing the operation mode of an electric device and a device thereof are provided to enable a user to conveniently change the operation mode of the electric device by controlling only a power switch. CONSTITUTION: An electric device(470) has at least one operation mode. A power switch(420) connects or disconnects a power line. A mode counter(450) detects and counts power disconnection states due to an operation of a power switch. A signal processor(440) filters a power signal inputted to the mode counter. A mode operating machine(460) changes the operation mode of the electric device based on the output of the mode counter.
