<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the display quality of a depth-adjusted stereoscopic image. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device includes: left edge invalid area width detecting portions 102, 106 and right edge invalid area detecting portions 104, 108 for detecting the invalid area of an image for a left eye and an image for a right eye which are input images; an invalid area width calculating portion 112 for calculating the final invalid area of the image for the left eye and the image for the right eye on the basis of the detected invalid area and a depth adjustment amount; a mask amount calculating portion 114 for calculating a mask amount on the basis of the final invalid area; a scaling portion 116 and shifting portions 118, 120 for adjusting a depth of a stereoscopic image by the image for the left eye and the image for the right eye on the basis of the depth adjustment amount; mask adding portions 122, 124 for adding a mask to the image for the left eye and the image for the right eye after the adjustment on the basis of the mask amount; and a display portion 130 for displaying the image for the right eye and the image for the left eye to which the mask is added. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
