The invention relates to a method for operating an arrangement having a control station device and a system station connected thereto, comprising at least one field device (25), wherein according to the method the field device sends data telegrams (DT1, DT2) to the control station device, using station description data of a station description data set (D1, D2) describing the system station, and wherein the station description data set comprises a topology description part (T1, T2) describing the topology of the system station and a device description part (G1, G2) describing the field devices associated with the system station. According to the invention, the field device generates data telegrams having station description data of a first station description data set, the data telegrams generated by the field device are fed into a conversion device, the conversion device modifies the received data telegrams and generates modified data telegrams (DT1', DT2') according to a prescribed second station description data set, wherein the device description part of the second station description data set comprises at least one device description statement that is present exclusively in the topology description part in the first station description data set. |
