Class 34(1) A web F, Fig. 1, of paper, felt &c. is dried on a rotary roller comprising an inner cylinder 7 having longitudinal ribs 12 forming channels 2 to which drying fluid is supplied through stationary distributers D supporting the ends A of the roller. - The end portions of the ribs 12 are curved and enclosed by sleeves 13 which rotate with the roller, and the fluid is directed into the channels through arcuate slots 4, Fig. 3, formed in fixed plates P interposed between the distributers and the ends of the roller. The roller is stated to function like a turbine rotor. |
