PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the program capacity of a control means associated with the control of variable display in two variable display means, in a game machine equipped with a first variable display means and a second variable display means. SOLUTION: In the game machine, a CPU 56 executes processes: from the start of variation of first special symbols based on the entrance into a first start wining hole 13 to the stop of stop symbols; and processes from the start of variation of second special symbols based on the entrance into a second start winning hole 14 to the stop of stop symbols according to a common processing routine (a special symbol process). When a process based on data stored in different areas (commands and variation pattern tables stored in different areas in a ROM 54) whether the variation of the first special symbols is started or the variation of the second special symbols is started is executed, the common processing routine specifies which variation of special symbols is started, and executes the process based on the data corresponding to the specified variation of the special symbol according to a common program.
