The present invention provides a method for efficiently recovering a metal element as a valuable substance from a composite derived from a waste household electric appliance, wherein quality of the recovered inorganic substance is as close as possible to quality which the inorganic substance had when the inorganic substance was used in the electric appliance. The objective method for recovering an inorganic element from a composite comprising an organic element and an inorganic element derived from an electric appliance is provided by bringing the composite into contact with a titanium dioxide and removing at least one portion of the organic element by decomposition under an oxygen atmosphere.
