A coil handling apparatus comprises a cradle 13 which is secured to a shaft 19 arranged at an angle of 45 degrees to the horizontal, the arrangement being such that on rotation of this shaft through 180 degrees, by a motor-driven reduction gear 12 and bevel wheels 22, 23, the axis of a coil 29 in the cradle is moved from the horizontal to the vertical. The cradle is secured to a ring 25 which is supported on tapered rollers 28. |
