PURPOSE: A defibrillator for sensing the outside contact to a outside object of a patient and a method operating thereof are provided to multiply the reliability of electrocardiogram measurement by restricting the contact to an object, prevent the generation of the leakage current, and not flowing noise in the electrocardiogram measurement. CONSTITUTION: A current measurement unit(103) is connected with electrode attachment to a human body and measures the current value between electrodes. A sensor unit(105) checks the enclosure contact of the human body if the measured current value does not keep a set value. Warning announcement information on the contact limit to the human body is generated and output if a processor(109) identifies the outside contact.
