PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric field communication system to be easily used, where a condition to disconnect communication is fixed regardless of an environment, and no communication is established unintentionally. SOLUTION: The communication system includes a transmitter 1 that imparts to a transmission medium 2 an electric field resulting from modulating an information signal and a receiver 3 that detects an electric field via the transmission medium 2 and obtains a demodulated signal corresponding to the information signal, wherein the receiver 3 includes a noise generating section 31 for generating internal noise and a demodulating section 33 for demodulating a signal where the information signal, external noise, and the internal noise are added.
