SOLUTION: The control device for the electric supercharger includes a target motor rotating speed computing means 21 for computing a target motor rotating speed in accordance with an engine revolving speed and an air flow amount, a motor current detecting means 22 for detecting a current in the armature winding of the motor 32, a motor voltage detecting means 23 for detecting the voltage of the armature winding of the motor 32, an actual motor rotating speed computing means 24 for computing an actual motor rotating speed in accordance with the current and the voltage, a subtractor 25 for outputting a difference between the target and actual motor rotating speeds, a failure detecting means 26 for outputting a failure detection signal when the difference is a difference threshold value or greater, a driving possibility/impossibility determining means 27 for determining driving possibility/impossibility in accordance with a drive command signal and the failure detection signal and outputting a driving possibility/impossibility signal, and a field current control means 28 for outputting a field current command value smaller than in driving the motor, when the driving possibility/impossibility signal is a motor stop command in a section where the motor is not driven.
