PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a machine tool, allowing reduction of a machining time, without causing degradation of machining accuracy, when machining a work. SOLUTION: The controller 1 for the machine tool includes a program analysis section 12 analyzing a machining program related to a fixed cycle and extracting a fixed cycle instruction; a parameter setting section 15 determining, based on the extracted fixed instruction, an accuracy level graded into a plurality of grades depending on how high machining accuracy is prioritized, as compared with the machining time in the machining based on the extracted fixed cycle instruction, and setting parameters corresponding to the accuracy level, related to operation control of a feed mechanism section 30; and a drive control section 17 controlling the feed mechanism section 30, based on the extracted fixed cycle instruction and the set parameters. The parameter setting section 15 calculates a circular arc-shaped movement track corresponding to the parameters when a tool moves around a virtual corner section wherein two straight lines intersect, and determines the accuracy level.
