PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel and correct method for controlling a roll changing device of a web printing machine, and a novel roll changing device. SOLUTION: In the method for controlling the roll changing device, the roll changing device includes a current control unit (15), and a higher-ranked rotational speed control unit (16) to the current control unit (15). The rotational speed control unit (16) outputs the output variable (22) according to the target value (19) of the rotational speed, and the actual value (20) of the rotational speed. The calculation is executed using at least the preliminary control variable (24) in order to detect the input variable (23) for the current control unit (15) to the output variable. The preliminary control variable is regulated according to the actual value (25) of the current to be actually supplied by the current control unit (15).
