In a safety device for preventing the operation of the starter motor with the gears engaged on road vehicles having automatic transmissions, auxiliary contacts 6 in series with the normal starting switch 5 are closed only when the selection lever 7 is in the neutral position. An additional switch 10, which may be adjacent to or combined with switch 5, allows the engine to be started should the selection lever become locked in the " drive " position with the engine at rest.</p> |
