PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing natural fiber that inhibits generation of a peculiar odor of the natural fiber, even when the natural fiber is exposed to a hot-temperature environment, without causing deterioration of strength of the natural fiber. SOLUTION: The method includes: a defibration treatment step S1 for extracting the natural fiber from a plant by defibrating the plant with a retting treatment; a cleaning treatment step S2 for cleaning the extracted natural fiber by spraying a high-pressure solution to the fiber; and a steaming treatment step S3 for steaming the cleaned natural fiber by immersing the fiber in an immersion fluid and heating the fluid.
