The disclosed motion detection device (200) has a signal representing a moving image as an input, and is for detecting motion between frames for each block region formed from a plurality of adjoining pixels or 1 pixel constituting frames which form moving images. The disclosed device comprises: a difference calculation unit (220) for acquiring a difference signal (S220) representing the difference between two adjoining frames; a first edge detection unit (230) for acquiring, for each block region, a first edge signal (S230) which is included in one of the frames; and a second edge detection unit (240) for acquiring, for each block region, a second edge signal (S240) which is included in the other frame; an edge calculation unit (250) for acquiring an edge signal (S250) for each block region by adding a value obtained by multiplying a first coefficient with the first edge signal (S230), and a value obtained by multiplying a second coefficient with the second edge signal (S240); and a division unit (260) for acquiring a motion signal (S260) for each block region by dividing the difference signal (S220) by the edge signal (S250). |
