PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the horizontal vibration of an elevator car when the elevator car travels in a high-speed running mode. SOLUTION: An elevator vibration damping device includes a damper device provided between a cage and a car frame for supporting the cage, a second damper device mounted on the car frame for damping the vibration of the horizontal movement of a guide roller, a speed detection means for detecting the traveling speed of an elevator car, a position detection means for detecting the position of the elevator car, a wind pressure predicting means for predicting the wind pressure to be applied to the elevator car by using the data on the fixed passing part, the speed detected by the speed detection means, and the position detected by the position detection means, and a computation unit for computing and outputting the control signals to the damper device and the second damper device with the output of the wind pressure predicting means as the input. The computation unit controls the damper device and the second damper device so that the damping factor of at least any one of the damper device and the second damper device is larger during the period in which generation of wind pressure is predicted and the predetermined periods before and after the first period than that during other periods.
