PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a device in which abnormality has occurred in protocol level. SOLUTION: An RAID (Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks) device includes a plurality of HDDs (Hard Disk Drives) as RAID configuration objects. The RAID device includes a control unit which controls the RAID configuration and controls communications between a host performing various data processing to the plurality of HDDs and the plurality of HDDs. With this configuration, when an initialization process for assigning a physical address unique to each of the plurality of HDDs is performed, the RAID device receives initialization frames from each of the plurality of HDDs. Then, the RAID device detects abnormality of each of the plurality of HDDs in accordance with information contained in the received initialization frames. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
