PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television set which is capable of displaying a video image of contents at high speed when switching a video signal. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal television 100 (television set) includes: HDMI connection units 32a-32d each of which is capable of inputting a digital video signal; a main control unit 10 which is capable of switching and controlling a video image to be displayed on a video display unit 13; and sub control units 33a-33d each configured to perform authentication processing of a digital video signal input to the HDMI connection units 32a-32d beforehand and to perform image data processing of the input digital video signal beforehand. The main control unit 10 is configured to output, to the video display unit 13, the video image on which the authentication processing has been performed by the sub control units 33a-33d beforehand and the image data processing has been performed, based on a switching operation for switching the video image to be displayed on the video display unit 13 to the video image input to the HDMI connection units 32a-32d.
