PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that facilitates recognition of color when being printed with a printer by using manufactured ink, without performing printing with the printer, in manufacturing characteristic ink when performing photogravure of picture patterns on plastic films or the like. SOLUTION: Concerning pressing paper laid under a sample when performing observation or colorimetry on the sample manufactured to be transferred by using a hand proofer on a transparent base film with the characteristic ink in preparation working of the characteristic ink used for photogravure, the pressing paper applies prescribed color on a white base surface at a uniform density. The pressing paper is characterized in that the prescribed color selects suitable color on the basis of color tone of the characteristic ink.
