<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gloss applicator which is optionally adaptable to required gloss, and also, capable of shortening a gloss application control time. <P>SOLUTION: The gloss applicator 301 disposed downstream of a fixing device 300 includes: a heat roller 36: a tension roller 37; a gloss application belt 30; and a pressure roller 40. A cooling fan 41 and a belt suction duct 39 that can move to the upstream and downstream sides in the moving direction of the belt are arranged at the inside of the gloss application belt 30. The gloss application belt 30 is deformed to a circular-arc shape when sucked, accordingly, a paper sheet P is curvature-separated.
