PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a butt-positioning device of plates, which can butt and position the butting faces of the plates each other, and further does not damage the plates. SOLUTION: A first plate W1 is held between a first attraction member 21 made of a first electromagnet and a first pressing member 41 made of magnetic material and is moved, the butting face of the first plate W1 is butted against a positioning reference member 14, and the first clamp member 60 is pressed to the first plate W1 so as to be fixed. After the positioning reference member 14 is retreated, a second plate W2 is held between a second attraction member 21' made of a second electromagnet and a second pressing member 41' made of magnetic material and is moved, and the butting face of the second plate W2 is butted against the butting face of the first plate W1 which has been positioned and fixed, and positioned, and the second clamp member 60' is pressed to the second plate W2 and fixed. The first and second attraction members 21, 21' made of electromagnets and the first and second pressing members 41, 41' made of magnetic materials can be rotated around each central axis thereof.
