PURPOSE: A control device and method for controlling the drive of a weaving torch are provided to readjust the predicted life time of an electromagnet by readjusting the duty ratio based on the comparison between the total use time and the preset predicted life time of the electromagnet and compensate the performance of the electromagnet. CONSTITUTION: A control device for controlling the drive of a weaving torch comprises an electromagnet(100) which is repetitively turned on or off by the power provided from outside to change electric energy into the kinetic energy, a controller(200) which counts the use time of the electromagnet in real time and compares the total use time with the predicted life span of the electromagnet, and a variable adjusting part(300) which is transmitted with a command related to readjustment of the predicted life span from the controller and changes duty ratio to readjust the ratio between on pulse width and off pulse width.
