<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire, which is improved in installation workability to an installation surface, and can secure safety even if a terminal block which relays electric connection of a lamp to a power supply line gets into an abnormal heating state. <P>SOLUTION: The ceiling downlight (luminaire) 1 includes an installation plate 2, a chassis 11, a terminal block 15, and a lamp 21. The installation plate 2 is flame-retardant. The installation plate 2 is fixed to a ceiling surface (installation surface) and includes a power supply line lead-in portion. The chassis 11 is also flame-retardant. The chassis 11 is located with a space on the side distant from the ceiling surface of the installation plate 2 and connected to the installation plate 2. The terminal block 15 is fixed to the chassis 11 or the installation plate 2, and the terminal block 15 is covered with the chassis 11 and the installation plate 2.
