<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress degradation in picture quality with time in displaying an image on a display. <P>SOLUTION: The column driver 33 and the row driver 34 of a display device 100 operate in the following way: in periods T0 to T5 for driving a pixel circuit 25 in accordance with one field, prior to the writing period T3 of applying an image data voltage V<SB>data</SB>of a pixel to the gate of Dr-TFT, a characteristic change suppressing voltage V<SB>r</SB>is preliminarily applied from a data line D to the gate of the Dr-TFT 2 in the period T1, the voltage V<SB>r</SB>having an absolute value larger than a differential voltage value between the maximum gate voltage and the minimum gate voltage which are preliminarily determined to drive the Dr-TFT2 correspondingly to brightness of an OLED (organic light-emitting diode) 1 so as to suppress changes in the Dr-TFT2 with time, while stopping supply of a power supply voltage V<SB>dd</SB>to the Dr-TFT2; the voltage state is maintained in the subsequent period T2; and then, after entering the writing period T3, the power supply voltage V<SB>dd</SB>is applied to the Dr-TFT2 to start light emission of the OLED 1; and the light emission is continued in the period T4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
