PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading technology capable of suppressing image deterioration in a read image. SOLUTION: The image reader includes: a guide member 38 which is provided at the upstream side rather than a reading position P10 to guide an original PA; and an image correction processing means for executing image correction processing regarding the read image read by a rear side reading unit 20. When an upstream side end (rear end) Pu of the original PA passes through a downstream side end 38d of the guide member 38, the upstream side end Pu of the original PA moves while contacting with a transparent member 27 after passing through level difference GP from a downstream end 38d of the guide member 38 to move to the transparent member 27. The image correction processing means executes image correction processing (such as brightness correction) to a first partial image read after the upstream side end Pu passes through the downstream side end 38d of the read image at a correction degree different from a correction degree to a second partial image read before the upstream side end Pu passes through the downstream side end 38d.
