The drive (10) has a motor (12) i.e. electric motor, connected to an input element of a planetary gear box (14). An output element i.e. planet carrier (28), is connected with a shaft portion (34) by which a wheel of a motor vehicle is driven. The gear box has a rotatably formed ring gear (32), a sun wheel (24), and a planetary wheel (26). The planetary wheel comprises two gearing portions (26a, 26b) to form a step planet gear box whose transmission ratio is from 8 to 16, where the radius of one of the gearing portions is larger than that of another gearing portion.
