PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device favorable for an emergency elevator which is capable of continuing the operation even when the commercial power from a power company is interrupted by a disaster or the like, and its auxiliary power source is further broken. SOLUTION: In the elevator device, a car 5 and a counterweight 6 installed in a hoistway 20 in an elevating/lowering manner are connected to each other via a rope 21 wound around a sheave 1 provided on an upper part thereof. The elevator device has a roller 8 which is provided on the car 5, brought into contact with a fixed structure on the hoistway 20 side, and rotated as the car 5 is elevated/lowered. The elevator device further includes a power generation means for generating the power by the rotation of the roller 8, and an emergency power source device 9 having a storage battery in which the power generated by the power generation means is charged. The elevator device still further includes a motor 10 for rotating the roller 8 by the power from the emergency power source device 9 in an emergency when the power supply from a regular power source is interrupted.
