<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for an airbag inflator that prevents peeling off of base material particles, and is light in weight, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The filter 1 for an airbag inflator includes a cylindrical porous body 2 in which a number of hollow and spherical iron balls are welded to the adjacent iron balls by copper, and a second punched plate 4 for an inner peripheral surface covering the inner peripheral surface of and welded to the porous body 2. The method of manufacturing the filter 1 includes a coating step coating the surface of the base material particles formed of a number of hollow and spherical metal materials with a welding material having a melting point lower than that of the base material particles, a storing step storing the base material particles having gone through the coating step in a storing space of a storing container obtained by disposing two cylindrical punched plates 3, 4 with a small diameter and a large diameter so as to be coaxial with each other and closing one end side of the space formed between the two punched plates, and a baking step baking the base material particles along with the storing container under a reduction gas atmosphere after having gone through the storing step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
