PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field communication device improving reliability while suppressing a manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The field communication device is equipped with: an output means for outputting a serial communication signal to a communication route; and a detecting means for detecting that a value of the serial communication signal outputted from the output means to the communication route is fixed over a predetermined time. The serial communication signal is a signal which is usually switched among a plurality of values in a time interval shorter than the predetermined time, and which reports the specific state by maintaining a specific value among the plurality of values.
