PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel provided with a magnetic seal mechanism for preventing the deterioration of the performance of a sealed member by reducing a leakage magnetic flux, and for maintaining satisfactory seal effects. SOLUTION: A fishing reel includes: a pinion gear 7 disposed with a unidirectional clutch 20; and a magnetic seal mechanism 50 adjacently installed so that the unidirectional clutch 20 can be sealed. The magnetic seal mechanism 50 includes: a ring-shaped magnet 51; a pair of holding members 52a and 52b for interposing and holding the ring-shaped magnet 51; a magnetic section 53 installed in the pinion gear 7; and a magnetic fluid 55 held by a magnetic circuit formed of the ring-shaped magnet 51, the pair of holding members 52a and 52b, and the magnetic section 53, wherein the thickness of the unidirectional clutch side holding member 52a is formed so as to be thicker than the thickness of the opposite side holding member 52b.
