Disclosed is an electrolytic capacitor which comprises a capacitor element, an electrolytic solution infiltrated into the capacitor element, and a housing in which the capacitor element and the electrolytic solution have been enclosed. The capacitor element comprises an anode foil having a dielectric layer on a surface thereof, a cathode foil, a separator interposed between the anode foil and the cathode foil, and a solid electrolyte layer which is in contact with the dielectric layer of the anode foil and with the cathode foil. The electrolytic solution contains a poorly volatile solvent which is at least a polyalkylene glycol or a polyalkylene glycol derivative.
