PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of automatically determining appropriate imaging timing capable of expressing intimate relationship among a plurality of objects by determining the relationship among the plurality of objects in a shot image, and always acquiring an optimum shot image by automatically executing imaging operation at the imaging timing. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging part 12 for acquiring an image signal of an object image; an object region detection part 12a for detecting specific regions of a plurality of objects including persons out of objects included in an image based on the image signal acquired by the imaging part; an object position detection part 12c for detecting a relative position relationship in images of the respective specific regions of the plurality of objects detected by the object region detection part; and an object condition determination part 11b for determining the relationship of the plurality of objects based on the detection result by the object region detection part and the object position detection part, wherein the imaging timing is determined based on the determination result by the object condition determination part.
