The carrier (11) has a base body (11a) that comprises upper and lower sides (12, 13), and an optical detectable identification (15) appearing on a top part (12). The lower side of the body is freely decorated by the optical detectable identification. A transparent protective film (16) is strippable by the body, and formed as a self adhesive. The protective film has cooling and heating resistance within a range of minus 30 degrees Celsius to 120 degrees Celsius. Thickness of the protective film is about 350 micrometers. The body is made from metal sheet i.e. VA1-sheet. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an identification carrier.
