摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a high carbon steel wire, obtainable of a steel wire having further high strength without impairing ductility by solving a conventional problem of restriction in the number of passes by improving a final wire drawing step and by further improving the processing limit of the wire steel; and to provide a high carbon steel wire obtained by this method. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a high carbon steel wire is a method for obtaining a high carbon steel wire by applying wet wire drawing in the final wire drawing step to the high carbon steel wire subjected to brass plating after patenting treatment. The manufacturing method includes a plurality of times of wire drawing. This method includes: applying cold wet drawing to the high carbon wire steel material 1, then temporarily reeling the drawn high carbon steel wire material 1A and unreeling the wire material again and applying cold wet drawing to the high carbon steel wire material 1A again in a state that a processing direction is inverted.
