The arrangement has fuel cells (11) comprising a fuel cell stack (10), upper and lower end plates (12, 13) with a deflection roller (17), and a clamping unit (16) arranged in edge area of the end plates. The stack is limited at its stack ends of the end plates. The clamping unit is arranged and attached such that it runs over the deflection roller and pushes the fuel cells one on the other. The clamping unit and/or the deflection roller are formed such that frictional forces arising at the deflection roller are reduced during movement of the clamping unit and fuel cells.
