The method involves arranging a fluff wire (18) in a flow channel (11), and pulling out the fluff wire from the flow channel, where the fluff wire is enriched with fluffs provided in the flow channel. Large portions of the fluffs lying outside of the flow channel are removed when pushing the fluff wire into the flow channel. A scraper is driven against a screen surface of the fluff wire before the insertion of the fluff wire into the flow channel. The wire is cleaned in an operating phase of a commercial treatment machine, where the fluffs are not accumulated in the phase. An independent claim is also included for a device for cleaning a fluff wire of a commercial treatment machine for clothing and/or laundry articles, comprising a shuttle cylinder.
