<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image coding method, along with an image decoding method, or the like, capable of performing accurate restoration, even if partial memory management information disappears due to a transmission line error, and also capable of increasing the efficiency of coding by more appropriately selecting a candidate of a reference image that can be referred to. <P>SOLUTION: The method of coding an image includes: a step (Step 100) of coding an image; a step (Step 102) of determining whether an unneeded memory exists; a step (Step 103) of coding memory management information for releasing the unneeded memory when the unneeded memory exists; a step (Step 104) of releasing the unneeded memory; a step (Step 105) of determining whether the memory management information for releasing the unneeded memory is coded by coding an immediately preceding image; and a step (Step 106) of coding the memory management information for releasing the unneeded memory again when the memory management information has been coded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
