PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage water heater usable with high convenience without concerning about the necessity of water supply work to a hot water storage tank even by a worker who does not have expertise related to a normal storage water heater. SOLUTION: The storage water heater includes the hot water storage tank 1, a hot water circulation passage 2, a heat recovery heat exchanger 5 exchanging heat with a heat source machine 4, and a heat use heat exchanger 6. By heating water supplied from a water supply part 19, hot water can be supplied from a hot water supply part 20. The storage water heater further includes a tank water supply part WF, a tank water discharge part WD and an operation control part 48 executing hot water storage operation, hot water supply operation, tank water supply operation and tank water discharge operation. In the state where water amount detected by a water amount detection means W of the hot water storage tank 1 is lower than a predetermined value, when instruction of the hot water supply operation is received, the operation control part 48 executes the hot water supply operation after executing the tank water supply operation and the hot water storage operation.
