PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a female terminal for a connector, which has good insertability to a terminal insert hole of a mat seal while allowing easy fabrication of a box section from one sheet metal. SOLUTION: In the female terminal 1, an electric contact section 10 includes a cylindrical box section 11 to which a male terminal is inserted through a front end opening, and an elastic contact spring 13 disposed inside the box section, the spring clamping a male terminal, when inserted into the box section, with an upper wall portion of the box section. The box section 11 is formed into a cylindrical shape by rounding a substantially rectangular sheet metal and abutting side edges thereof to each other, and the elastic contact spring piece 13 is formed by pressing a sheet metal integrated to the sheet metal forming the box section. An abutted section 12 of the sheet metal is arranged on the upper wall section of the box section, and an indent 15a is formed at the upper wall section on which the abutted section is arranged from the outside of the box section, whereby a projection 15b is formed inside the box section, and the apex of the projection is used as a contact section to the male terminal.
