PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to quantitatively obtain the using amount of "carbon" in a blast furnace from a blast flow rate condition from a tuyere and a gas composition analyzing condition in the furnace-top part while avoiding use of the supplying side (charging, blowing in) condition of carbon-containing raw material, when the actual carbon amount used in the blast furnace is calculated. SOLUTION: The total flow rate of the furnace-top discharge gas is calculated from a nitrogen total flow rate blown into blast furnace and an analyzed value of a nitrogen volumetric ratio in the furnace-top discharge gas, and the carbon discharge from the furnace-top discharge gas is calculated from carbon-dioxide volume fraction and carbon-monoxide volume fraction in the furnace-top discharge gas, and thus, the amount of total carbon used in the blast furnace is estimated by using the carbon discharge from the furnace-top discharge gas.
